Flora Abramson

Flora Horowitz Abramson was born in the throes of the Great Depression. Flora’s parents were immigrants from Romania (father) and Poland (mother) who came to America as young adults. Even as a child, with a strong will and quick mind, she was already challenging the norms; she insisted on being able to attend Hebrew school back when girls were not expected or allowed to attend. She married her high-school sweetheart and raised a family as a stay-at-home mom. During this time, with the long daytime hours in which her mind was not fully engaged, Flora gained a substantial amount of weight. Unhappy and determined to lose it, she joined Weight Watchers and lost 101 pounds, and this began her journey into business ownership, leadership in the community and volunteerism over the years.
