Dominique Hyatt-Oates

Dominique Hyatt-Oates is a public health nurse manager for the City of Milwaukee’s Health Department Breast and Cervical Cancer Awareness Program. Prior to becoming a nurse, she received a bachelor’s degree in athletic training at Washington State University. She returned to the Midwest to work at a bilingual physical therapy clinic that predominately served the Hispanic/Latino community. Dominique then joined Marquette University’s Direct Entry Master’s of Science in Nursing program, graduating in 2018. She started her nursing career in bedside and through her experience felt drawn to work more directly and intimately with the Milwaukee community which lead her to pursue public health. Dominique has served as an adjunct instructor for Alverno College and initiated a Black African American Employee Resource Group for the City of Milwaukee. She is the immediate past president of the Greater Milwaukee chapter of the National Association of Hispanic Nurses. In 2022 Dominique started a brand CREAM Unity which is known for its acronym “Community Rules Everything Around Me.” The brand serves to be an anthem of solidarity, invest in the community and bring awareness to organizations doing valuable work in our city to combat barriers and inequities in Milwaukee.
