Deb Hufford

Deborah Hufford is Milwaukee author of the award-winning debut novel, “Blood to Rubies.” She grew up an Iowa farm girl with horses and was a rodeo queen. She became a career magazine editor and writer with credits in numerous publications including New York Times, NYT Magazine and Connoisseur and taught at University of Iowa, Northwestern and Marquette universities. Many years’ work on her novel was stymied by kidney failure and a related heart attack. After receiving a kidney transplant in late 2022, “Blood to Rubies” was published September 2023 to rave reviews and many awards and is an Amazon bestseller. Deborah also authors the popular historical blog, “Notes from the Frontier,” with 100,000 readers. Find more information at www.DeborahHufford.com
