The Beatles at Shea Stadium

Introduced to America by promoter Sid Bernstein, and brought into living rooms by Ed Sullivan, the Beatles eclipsed all expectations of a concert audience, appearing before 55,600, mostly screaming, fans at New York’s Shea Stadium in 1965. Overcoming an overmatched sound system, it was epic, but almost never happened. It did happen, and changed rock music forever. This class looks at the road to Shea, the often overlooked encore 1966 concert, and its enduring legend.
