The morning of June 30, 1978, August “Augie” Palmisano was heading to work on Commission Row in the Third Ward when he climbed into his car in the parking garage of Juneau Village Garden Apartments. When he put his key in the ignition, he was instantly killed by a massive bomb that could be felt for blocks. Augie Palmisano was many things — a husband, a father, a bar owner, a produce vendor and a gambler. He was also the cousin of “Milwaukee Journal Sentinel” reporter Mary Spicuzza, who was a young girl when he was killed.
