Domestic Violence and Human Trafficking in Milwaukee

Domestic violence and human trafficking are at an all-time high in the Greater Milwaukee Area and have been since the pandemic. Domestic violence has been up as high as 800% since 2020 with the homicide rate soaring. Trafficking has been increasing in Milwaukee for years, becoming more pronounced each year in both the city and the suburbs. This talk will provide an overview of domestic violence and human trafficking basics and how they present in the Milwaukee area. The presenter, a high risk advocate for Sojourner Family Peace Center representing most of the suburban areas and occasionally MPD districts, will speak about her first-hand experiences and will share her perspective that these are problems that are not going away without a community response to the issues.
