McAllister presents at FSU Graduate Symposium

October 7 and 8, graduate student and teaching assistant, Evan McAllister, attended the 34th Annual Art History Graduate Symposium at Florida State University and presented his paper “Juana of Austria and Descalzas Reales: Female Habsburg Identity through Devotion.”   His travel was partially funded by a UWM Graduate School Travel Award.

McAllister reported: “In an attempt to continually improve my writing I submitted an abstract to the 34th Annual Art History Graduate Symposium. Spending a weekend amongst scholars in my specific field seemed challenging and honestly, intimidating. However, Florida State University has created an incredibly encouraging and engaging opportunity for graduate students to present their current research. As I left the symposium I felt personally connected to the Art History community and motivated to continue my academic career. This is an opportunity that I hope graduate students from Milwaukee continue to pursue.”
