Brazeau and Story attend Curators Conference at Edgewood College

On November 21, 2014, Linda Brazeau, Director of the UWM Art Collection and Galleries and Christa Story, Curator, UWM Art Collection, attended the Curators Conversations organized by David Wells at Edgewood College in Madison.  From 2004 through 2010, David was the Executive Director of Edenfred, a Resident Fellows Program, established by the Terry Family Foundation and based in a 1916 Georgian-style mansion in the Highlands neighborhood of Madison. At Edenfred David organized and hosted a successful series “Conversations”, discussions wherein participants addressed issues pertinent to their specific artistic interests.  After Edenfred closed, David continued the Curators Conversation at Edgewood College where, since 2013, he has served as Director of the Edgewood College Gallery.

The Curators Conversations is a bi-annual, one-day, informal discussion forum for arts curators from various Wisconsin art institutions including university and independent museums and galleries.  The forum provides the opportunity for curators to share information about issues including exhibitions, collections, and institutional problems.

At this Curators Conversations Linda shared information regarding the UWM Art History Gallery renovation and future plans for a Print Study Room and Open Storage Study Galleria. Christa informed the group about the growing UWM Art Collection, working with ArtStor, current and upcoming exhibitions, the traveling Nativity exhibition, and the Gallery’s accessibility on social media sites.  The group spent time after lunch viewing the current exhibition at the Edgewood College Gallery, Luxe, and heard a gallery talk by artist/curator John Ready.
