The 2015 Hoey Prize winner, Marianna Cecere, accepted the award at the reading of her paper, “Knowledge and hubris: the Astronomers miniature in the Psalter of Blanche of Castile” on Wednesday, April 27, 2016.

Marianna Cecere is the 2015 recipient of the Lawrence R. Hoey Memorial Prize for the best essay written by a graduate student in the Department of Art History. She was nominated by Associate Professor Richard Leson for the paper she wrote in ARTHIST 720: Colloquium in Medieval Art: Women and the Book. Marianna will receive $100 and her name was engraved on a plaque that hangs in the Department of Art History’s main office.

The Lawrence R. Hoey Memorial Prize was established in 2000 in honor of Lawrence R. Hoey, Professor of Art History at UWM from 1981-2000, who died following a car accident in France during the summer of 2000.
