18th Century Communion Chalices and Tokens Examined

Students in Assistant Professor Kay Wells’s Introduction to American Art class examined communion chalices and communion tokens from the UWM Art Collection this week! These 18th century items would have been used in Protestant communion ceremonies across the United Kingdom and Colonial America. Students were able to channel the experience of 18th century congregants by holding the communion tokens in their hands. This was one of the many great opportunities for Art History students to use the UWM Art Collection in their studies!
