UWM Science Bag – All About Vitamin D – Presented by: Professor Alexander (Leggy) Arnold

February 24, 2017 @ 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Fridays: February 3, 10, 17 and 24 at 8 p.m.
Sunday: February 12 at 2 p.m.

Most of us know that being exposed to the sun is essential for healthy bones, but how does it actually work?  You will learn some amazing facts about vitamin D and how a scientist in Wisconsin cured millions of people all over the world. In this interactive presentation, we will discuss what humans have in common with algae, demonstrate the power of light to produce vitamin D, and give the kids in the audience the opportunity to draw with a flash lamp. We will try to answer your dietary questions and solve the mystery of why fish are an excellent source of vitamin D even though they don’t sunbathe!

Free and open to the public!

The UWM Physics Building, Room 137, is located at 1900 E. Kenwood Blvd. – the corner of Kenwood and N. Cramer St.).
