Abdirahman Warsame is a second-generation immigrant from Somalia, whose journey is a testament to resilience and dedication in the face of adversity. As the Co-Founder and Executive Director of Generation Hope, a groundbreaking youth-centric recovery organization in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Abdirahman has been at the forefront of ending the stigma of addiction and mental health within the East-African Community.

Growing up, Abdirahman faced the challenges of navigating his dual identity, striving to find acceptance, and coping with trauma. His personal struggle with addiction opened his eyes to the lack of culturally appropriate resources for substance use disorder (SUD) services and the overwhelming stigma surrounding addiction within his community. In response to the devastating impact of the opioid epidemic on his peers, Abdirahman and his friends co-founded Generation Hope, aiming to connect hundreds of individuals to SUD and mental health resources throughout the twin cities. Through their innovative and compassionate approach, they have transformed lives, fostering a supportive environment where individuals can find understanding and empowerment on their journey to recovery. Their work has been recognized internationally by ambassadors, congressmen and woman and community leaders here and abroad.
