Fighting for Respect: African American Soldiers in WWI
February 20 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
FreeFestival of Films in French
The documentary captures the plight of the African American soldiers who fought for democracy abroad in segregated US Army troops through archival film footage, letters written from the Front, and the experiences of soldiers who received the French Croix de guerre for their distinguished service and faced discrimination and white supremacist violence when they returned to the US in 1919.
