On Thursday, July 14, 2016 (Bastille Day!), Christa Story, Curator, UWM Art Collection, gave a Salon Series talk at the Milwaukee Art Museum. Story discussed Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec’s (1864-1901) painting, Three Cuirassiers for both the general public and museum docents. The painting, done in 1879 when Lautrec was only 15 years old, combines the loose, expressive brushwork would become known for, with the traditional subject matter of his early influences and surroundings. This painting is a special glimpse at a young and developing artist, and is now permanently on view at the Milwaukee Art Museum.
