Painter Talks to ARTHIST 364: Modern Painting II

On Wednesday, May 4th, Shane Walsh an artist and lecturer in Painting & Drawing at the Peck School of the Arts, spoke to Visiting Assistant Professor Sarah Schaefer’s ARTHIST 364: Modern Painting II: 1900 to the Present. Walsh first spoke about some of his key artistic and philosophical influences, then introduced some of his own paintings, which engage with themes such as the history of 20th-century abstraction and postmodern appropriation. An exhibition of his work, Shane Walsh: Rehearsed in Reverse, is on view until June 17th at UW-Parkside’s Fine Arts Gallery.
