Leigh Mahlik, our newest departmental staff member, begins today, January 3, 2017, as Associate Academic Curator.
We are thrilled to have Leigh on the staff; she brings a wealth of experience to the position at the very moment the UWM Art Collection and Art History Galleries are undergoing significant and exciting changes with the construction of the Emile H. Mathis II Gallery in Mitchell Hall (due for completion later this Spring).
Leigh graduated from UW-Madison with honors, double-majoring in French and Art History. She then completed her MA in Art History here at UWM where she received one of our competitive Chancellor Awards, in addition to serving as a TA. On the museum side, Leigh curated a wonderful exhibition on Whistler, Haden, and Pennell in 2014 at UWM. Most recently, she served as Gallery Director of the Edna Carlsten Art Gallery at UW-Stevens Point, with previous positions in the UWM Art History Gallery, INOVA, MAM, and the Sheboygan County Historical Museum.
