Counts has served at UWM for 20 years and is the co-director of the Athienou Archaeological Project in Cyprus. He has made many advancements in the field of archaeology and in 2020, was given the UWM Faculty University Distinguished Service Award. Counts is now among just 24 distinguished professors currently working at UWM.
