On Thursday, September 29, Adopt Art donor, Ellen Kowalczyk joined Linda Brazeau, Director, UWM Art Collection and Galleries and Christa Story, Curator, UWM Art Collection to view preservation treatment of her “Adopt Art” selection, Francisco Goya’s Folly on the Wings, an etching and aquatint.
On Tuesday, September 27, UWM Art Collection Director, Linda Brazeau, and Curator, UWM Art Collection, Christa Story gave a behind the scenes tour of the UWM Art History Gallery and the UWM Art Collection (UWMAC) vault to Friends of Art History (FOAH) members at the Art Connoisseur level.
The good news is that the renovation is scheduled to begin in fall 2016. Upon completion in spring 2017, the Art History Gallery, under the stewardship of the Department of Art History, will be transformed into a state-of-the-art 2,400 square feet exhibition space, renamed the Emile H. Mathis II Gallery, honoring the beneficence of patron Emile H. Mathis II, an art connoisseur, collector and gallery owner.
On Sept. 15, Associate Professor Tanya Tiffany was elected to the board of the Fine Arts Society of the Milwaukee Art Museum.
From now until November 3, you can see George Goundie’s sculpture, Head of a Dancer (1959), on loan from the UWM Art Collection, in Continuum 2016: Sculpture.

Director of the UWM Art Collection, Linda Brazeau, and Curator, Christa Story welcomed Lisa Benjamin, the granddaughter of UWM Art Collection donors, Blanche and Henry Rosenberg, to view art in the Rosenberg Collection which includes work by early modern masters such as Picasso, Miro, Kandinsky, Klee, Moore, Arp, Dubuffet and others.
The UWM Art Collection has received another gift of art from Virginia and J. Thomas Maher III.
