3D Visualization in Art and Archaeology

On Monday, March 27, Professor Derek Counts welcomed Kevin Garstki (ABD, Anthropology, UWM) to his ARTHIST 710 colloquium (“Roman Copies of Greek Original Sculpture”) to discuss 3D visualization in art and archaeology. In addition to a tech demo, the class discussed a range of theoretical issues surrounding 3D artifact documentation, as well as questions of original vs. reproduction, authenticity vs. authority, and artistic agency.
