Students are invited to perform in opera productions, opera workshop performances, musicals, recitals, and concerts with one of the five choral ensembles at UWM. The professional musical organizations of the greater Milwaukee area including Skylight Music Theatre regularly offer our students performance opportunities as well.
Our programs are led by professional singers and pianists who have performed widely throughout the United States and Europe. The combined faculty has expertise in Opera, Recital, Oratorio and Orchestral Solo Performances, Musical Theatre and Early Music. Several of the voice faculty have also been published in music journals and all are multi-lingual.
The charge of the Voice Area is to teach skills for future success in music, to offer solid vocal technique and knowledge of vocal health. This training is built upon a foundation of history, theory, and a varied repertoire of vocal music. A spirit of genuine collaboration both within and outside of the voice area offers experiences in many musical styles, fostering future performers, pedagogues and leaders in the arts.

“I never for one second felt any doubt that I could do this career because I had so much encouragement and support from the faculty. One day, when I work on my biography, the chapter on UWM will definitely be about support and love. I am so thankful that they grew my passion here.” - Kathryn Henry, 2015 MET Opera National Council Semi-Finalist
