Volunteer with the Student Supporting Agriculture Program
Get involved with growing food and distributing fresh produce to the UWM Food Center and Pantry! Student volunteers in the Student Supporting Agriculture Program help plant, maintain, and harvest vegetables from our indoor hydroponics system, and support our garden operations in the summer and fall. There are also educational and creative components, such as viewing documentaries as a group and painting signage for the gardens. Join today!
Service Learning in the Office of Sustainability
The Office of Sustainability works with students from all areas of campus. Volunteer service learning projects can be designed to fit almost any student’s need. Students have created campus bicycle education programs, coordinated garden produce pickups with The Gathering, and supported the hoop house composting operation.
The Office of Sustainability also hosts Service Learning, as part of class credit for specific classes taught at UWM. This program is managed by the UWM Cetner for Student Experience and Talent. Every semester there is a standing request for 8-12 student volunteers to help in the campus composting operation. Students are especially needed to haul food waste, maintain the compost piles, and test the results. For more information about Service Learning, visit the SET website.
