CLACS recently finished a sequel to a late 1990s video we produced, “El Futuro Maya” (available at http://tinyurl.com/zypm3ug). The original focused on the Maya cultural revitalization movement shortly after the Guatemalan Peace Accords. The sequel looks at the Maya Movement now, given the 20th anniversary of the Accords. Filming was completed in summer 2015 and the documentary is now available at https://uwm.edu/clacs/el-futuro-maya-ii/ .
The final product takes the form of a website with video modules built around themes such as identity, language, development, discrimination, and visions for the future. The project is supported by CLACS, Virginia Commonwealth University, Tulane University and Vanderbilt University.
