Morir-Vivir Beyond the Human, explores a shift beyond the human – non-human distinction at the heart of the colonial project. Our relationship to the status of nature, even in resistant resonances, must take seriously that environmental futurity might not have the “proverbial” we at its center. Taking Puerto Rico and its colonial condition as a point of departure, Stephanie Rivera Berruz offers an understanding of sentience and thinking as semiotically interconnected processes that collapse the human-nature divide.
