Social Media Specialist

Job Summary: The student CLACS Social Media Specialist is responsible for managing CLACS social media accounts including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and more in accordance with UWM social media policy. They will work with CLACS staff to identify stories of impact to publish on social media platforms.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Maintain and grow CLACS social media following
• Build a collection of alumni & award recipient testimonials
• Attend CLACS events (when schedule permits) to photograph/film for social media promotion
• Develop new content for social media, such as podcasts or other projects
• Recap CLACS’ past events
• Analyze and evaluate social media insights
• Other responsibilities as needed

Required Qualifications
• Interest/proficiency in social media platforms
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Willingness to work with people from diverse lived experiences
• Creative, self-motivated, detail oriented
• Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills

Preferred Qualifications
• Interest in/curiosity about Latin America/Caribbean
• Experience with photography, video recording, editing, and Adobe Creative Cloud
• Proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese

Hours: Flexible schedule, approx. 10 hours per week

Public Engagement Specialist

Job Summary: The student CLACS Public Engagement Specialist will promote events organized by CLACS to the public via email, social media, etc. They will also assist in the planning of CLACS events throughout the year, and support of CLACS outreach initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assistance with program/event planning, including the spring Latin American film series and the summer K-16 teacher institute
• Support, as needed, for the CLACS free-loan Media Collection
• Creating event flyers, routinely updating bulletin boards
• Promoting Latin American/Caribbean teaching resources and engaging with our K-16 educator network via email
• Developing/maintaining a periodic CLACS Newsletter
• Other responsibilities as need
