UWM’s Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies, with its consortial partner, the UW-Madison Latin American, Caribbean and Iberian Studies Program, were among 98 programs recently announced by the U.S. Department of Education as Title VI National Resource Centers (NRC) for Language and Area Studies and 112 recipients of Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowships for 2022-26. 

CLACS funding includes FLAS Fellowships in critical languages for undergraduate and graduate students (Portuguese, Haitian Creole, indigenous languages of the Americas) and NRC funding in support of teaching, research, and public engagement, including K-16 educator professional development. (See the U.S. Department of Education Google Map for a listing of all 2022 funded international education programs, including NRC and FLAS.)
