Dr. Paul Farmer, a founder of Partners in Health (PIH), died earlier this spring. To honor his impact and vision, this event highlights one of many global health professionals who carry forward that same commitment of public health for poor and underserved communities around the world.

As Executive Director of PIH affiliate Inshuti Mu Buzima, Dr. Joel M. Mubiligi leads a team of over 200+ people tasked with improving the quality of care provided to patients in oncology, chronic disease, mental health, surgery, maternal, neonatal, adolescent, and child health by developing equitable, scalable, and patient-centered innovations in these clinical areas. He also serves as adjunct faculty and a member of the board of directors of the University of Global Health Equity, a PIH initiative that equips future physicians with the clinical knowledge and skills needed to effectively implement innovative public health solutions, lead and manage equitable health systems, and improve the delivery of care in rural communities.
