The UWM Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (CLACS) is pleased to announce the CLACS Faculty Fellows selected for the 2019-20 academic year.

Fellows will contribute to scholarly exchanges on the topic Migration in the Americas and will co-plan a spring 2020 symposium, to be supported by CLACS as part of its Title VI National Resource Center-funded commitment to teaching, research and public engagement.

The flow of peoples, ideas, cultures, artistic expressions, institutions, and material goods are an intrinsic feature of the Americas. Whether we consider the natural world – such as migratory patterns of butterflies and other species – or human interactions – such as forced migration through the transatlantic slave trade – movements across space and time are a marked feature of experiences in the region. The theme for 2019-2020 will examine migration, broadly conceived, as it relates to Latin America and the Caribbean.
