August 19, 2019  |  News & Events, Sad News, Timely Announcements

Colleagues,

I share with you the sad news that Adream Blair, Associate Professor in Art and Design, passed away August 4 due to complications from spinal surgery.

Associate Professor Blair joined the faculty of UW-Milwaukee in 2008. Her research ranged from public mass transit programs, to ESL in medical situations, and most recently working with 3D printing and rapid prototyping—helping to design and construct 3D printed prosthetics for children. Friends and colleagues remember her empathy, dedication to her students, and a life lived full of generosity, laughter, and love.

A testimony to the type of person she was, Associate Professor Blair’s final act was to donate her organs and tissue to help others. Through her donations, she was able to help save the lives of seven people, gave the gift of sight to two more, and provided tissue to more than 75 cancer patients.

Associate Professor Blair’s obituary is online. There will be a Life Celebration on Saturday, September 14 from 1-5 p.m. at the Zelazo Center.

Take care,

Johannes
