UWM is setting its course for the future. We’re focusing the next phase of our evolution on being student-centric and more engaged in the community while retaining our distinctive identity and purpose.
The 2030 Action Plan provides the framework for UWM to advance student success and fulfill our mission as a research and access institution that enhances and improves the quality of life for all in southeastern Wisconsin.
The 2030 Action Plan includes eight priorities focused on success for UWM and our students. The work involved in developing these goals is detailed in the 2030 Implementation Team Final Report (Spring 2021).
Implementation Teams have been formed around each of the eight priorities and have worked continuously towards their goals since the report publication in 2021.
Many of these goals are an extension of ongoing efforts, while others are new. All of the goals will propel UWM to create cultural and operational changes to be a strong and sustainable institution.

Becoming a Student-Centric University and Moon Shot for Equity
Provide student-centered services and supports that result in student success in the form of retention and graduation for all students
Revising the Curriculum
Offer a core curriculum that is focused on student needs, features the development of lifetime skills and abilities, and reduces the time needed to complete a degree
Increasing Inclusion and Diversity
Commit to UWM being an institution in which diversity, equity and inclusion penetrate our culture and inform campuswide actions
Aligning and Engaging our Workforce
Make cultural and policy changes to aid in the advancement, career success and other support of UWM employees
Reassessing Unit Alignment
Reduce the number and composition of college-level units
Redesigning the Research Infrastructure
Change our research infrastructure to support the shifting needs of investigators across UWM
Updating the Budget Model
Develop budget adjustments that preserve unit incentives and accommodate institutional change
Growing the UWM Foundation Endowment
Grow the endowment to $500 million to enable priorities
