Payment Information

Full payment is due the first day of class. ELA charges a monthly fee of $25 for unpaid balances. UWM also assesses a 1% charge for all late payments. Late fees cannot be removed.

Financial Obligation

A student who enrolls in IEP classes is making a financial commitment to UWM for full payment of tuition and fees for the entire period for which the student is registered. Each enrolled student has an online UWM PAWS account where financial information and due dates are recorded. The student (not the sponsor) is responsible for payment of all charges on the student’s UWM PAWS account.

If you have any questions, please email Jody, ELA Financial Specialist, at forbeck@uwm.edu.

Non-Payment or Past Due Balances

Non-payment or a past due balance will cause a “Hold” to be placed on the student’s account. Holds restrict future registration, transcript release, refusal of other campus services, and other restrictions not mentioned. You will also not be eligible to enroll for a payment plan in the next term if your past due balance is $1500.00 or greater.

Cancellation and Withdrawal

  • Exit Form must be completed.
  • There is no refund of the initial application fee of $160.
  • Tuition refund of 100% if cancellation notice is received BEFORE the first day of class.
  • A percentage of tuition refund is given for a cancellation notice submitted after classes have started. A withdrawal fee will be charged.
  • If you begin full-time academic study at UWM, 100% of tuition payment is refunded. (This does not mean you would be refunded for previous semesters of instruction. This only applies if you are moved to full-time academic study immediately after enrolling in IEP classes and pay for tuition. You would be refunded for tuition payments if you change status in that same term).

Making an online international payment

For international payments, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee has partnered up with PayMyTuition.  PayMyTuition is an easy-to-use, safe, and seamless solution that allows international students to pay their tuition and fees in their local currency from any bank, in any country, in any currency at better than bank exchange rates.

PAWS Designate Access

Students may want to grant another party such as a parent or guardian access to pay their bill online. In order to comply with FERPA requirements, a student would need to grant access to their record within PAWS by creating a Designate Access account. The account allows access to To-Do Lists, Financials (including making payments and viewing Financial Aid), and Grades. This is separate from the release completed for the ELA.

Application Fee Online Payment

Only new students who are completing the online application may pay the application fee by ePayment. The application fee is non-refundable. Only Visa and Mastercard are accepted. The application fee is combined with the online application form.

If you are having issues with the application portal payment, please email us at el-academy@uwm.edu.
