Full admission with EAP placement hold is for international students who have been admitted to an academic degree program at UWM but may still need to complete some required English for Academic Purposes (EAP) coursework because of IEP recommendation or TOEFL/IELTS score. A student admitted with this status cannot carry more than 16 credits overall.
Students can receive Full admission with EAP placement hold by receiving IEP recommendation OR by submitting a TOEFL or IELTS score that meets English Proficiency requirements. In other words, a student who successfully completes (achieves all the outcomes) the B1 level in the core courses for a semester from our IEP can go directly into a UWM academic program WITHOUT a TOEFL or IELTS score. However, if you plan on taking the TOEFL or IELTS to apply for academic study at UWM, see the English proficiency requirements for acadmemic admission here.
To enroll in some EAP courses, students are required to take the English Placement Test for Non-Native Speakers of English (EPT-NNSE). There is no fee to take this test, and it can be taken on UWM’s campus. Learn more about taking the EPT-NNSE and registering for EAP courses.

**Please note that ALL your EAP courses carry credit towards a degree, and you must receive a C or higher in all EAP coursework to pass out of the class.
