CLACS has two days of virtual events for our Spring 2021 Brazil Initiative. The events were graciously put together by our colleagues at Marquette University, Dr. Michelle Medeiros (Languages, Literatures, and Cultures) and Dr. Jessica Rich (Political Science).

    • Following the 2018 election of Jair Bolsonaro, policies to protect the environment and empower marginalized groups have come under attack. With the spread of Covid-19, threats to social, political, and economic inclusion have only increased. What are the new challenges for social and human rights in Brazil? How is civil society responding to these threats?
