Rules on testing and masks extended

Through at least December 23, 2021, UWM students and employees who are unvaccinated are required to test weekly for COVID-19. In addition, UWM continues to require that students, employees and visitors wear masks indoors on all campuses through January 15, 2022.

Testing: It is highly recommended that those requiring weekly testing use the free testing available on each UWM campus. Vaccinated individuals also may receive COVID-19 tests on campus, if they wish, but it is not mandatory. All students and employees who do not have symptoms may make an appointment for testing at uwmke.vivi.healthcare.

Students and staff who do not use campus-based testing will have to file proof of testing (or some other exemption) on a weekly basis using the Testing Exemption Form. If students and employees test positive and do not have a follow-up test, they are considered positive for COVID-19.

Face coverings: Masks are required indoors at least through Jan. 15, when sharing a room or in a common area or other space with another person. This includes wearing masks when in the same room such as a classroom, lab, conference room, bathroom, hallway, lobby or waiting area.

Masks also are required while on UWM campus shuttles and buses, such as the Prowl Line and B.O.S.S. vans. Students who are living in residence halls do not have to wear masks while in their assigned rooms. Employees are not required to wear masks while they’re alone in individual offices.

NOTE: the above campus updates are from the November 30, 2021 UWM Report. See UWM’s Interim COVID-Related Health & Safety Policy for additional information. The UWM Report also includes information about the recently announced vaccination requirements for UWM employees.
