Colleagues,

I share with you sad news from Dean Kanti Prasad in the Sheldon B. Lubar School of Business.

Dr. George Hutchinson, a former UWM professor in Management Information Systems, passed away on August 25.  Dr. Hutchinson was a faculty member in Management Information Systems for over three decades before retiring in the Spring of 2000.  He played an important role in developing the business school’s pioneering degree programs in MIS from the 1970’s through the 1990’s, and he also served as director of the campus computing center early in his UWM career.  A graduate of Carnegie Mellon and Stanford, Dr. Hutchinson was an accomplished international scholar who helped the business school gain scholarly recognition in the MIS field.

Dr. Hutchinson’s obituary is online.  Services will be held on Friday, September 7.  Visitation will be from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. with a short service to follow, at Harder Funeral Home, 18700 W. Capitol Drive, in Brookfield.

Our condolences to George’s family and to the many others whose lives he touched.

Take care,
Johannes
