Research Interests:

I am interested in understanding the nature and treatment of anxiety and other emotional reactions to stress, such as anger reactions. I have particular interests in posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and panic in adults. My research program is focused on identifying therapeutic procedures that alleviate dysfunctional anxiety and other emotional reactions and understanding the psychological and biological mechanism that are responsible for the reduction of these reactions.

Teaching Interests:

Nature, assessment, and treatment of anxiety disorders, with particular emphasis on PTSD, OCD, and panic; clinical trials methodology; epistemology and the philosophy of science as applied to psychology; conditioning and basic learning theory.
