POL SCI Students Take on Manhattan!

Students enrolled in POL SCI 337 & 338 at the United Nations with Burmese diplomats, June 2019.

Twenty(ish) UWM students participated in the United Nations Summer Seminar this past summer — here they are with diplomats from Burma!  Every June, POL SCI  takes on Manhattan under the direction of Professor Shale Horowitz.  Ever think about joining us?

This five-week, six-credit program, open to students at all levels, includes four weeks in Manhattan and one week on campus. Students meet with diplomats from countries all over the world, but also have ample free time to enjoy the awesome sights, events, and activities in the Big Apple. AND, those six credits are upper-division credits in International Relations that satisfy the L&S research requirement in the major.  Pretty great, right?  But don’t take our word for it.  This is from a student who attended in June of 2018:

“The United Nations seminar in New York City was one of the most interesting and useful experiences in my life.  I thought the opportunity to do it was a unique experience that most Political Science programs at other schools cannot offer.”

Information for next summer’s program will be posted soon on the Political Science Department website — keep an eye out!  (In the meantime, you can contact Professor Horowitz, shale [at] uwm.edu, with your questions.)
