To apply for undergraduate travel support of up to $1000 to engage in field research, a faculty/staff mentor (PI) should email Kyla Esguerra at firstname.lastname@example.org with a one page proposal that includes the following:
- The dates and location of travel
- An itemized travel budget
- The objective of the research and the student’s tasks
- The student selected, and why the student is a good candidate for the opportunity
This can be done on a rolling basis and should be submitted at least one month prior to the proposed travel.
Funding can be used for undergraduate transportation, lodging, and/or per diem to offset the cost of meals. All travel expenditures must comply with UW System policies, and administrative support must be provided to the student by the faculty member and their department in navigating the travel process, including but not limited to submitting a travel authorization, making travel-related purchases, and requesting reimbursements.
