Former SERA Student, Anna Kaminski, awarded the American Meteorological Society’s 2021 Father James B. Macelwane Annual Award in Meteorology

Congratulations to Anna Kaminski who has been awarded the American Meteorological Society’s 2021 Father James B. Macelwane Annual Award in Meteorology! The award carries a $1,000 stipend and partial travel support to the next American Meteorological Society annual meeting.

The Macelwane award is intended “to stimulate interest in meteorology among college students through the submission of original student papers concerned with some phase of the atmospheric sciences.” Students must be undergraduates at the time the paper is written, and no more than two students from any one institution can submit papers for consideration. It is the most prestigious student research award offered by the American Meteorological Society, and one of the most prestigious such awards in all of the atmospheric and related sciences. Anna is UWM’s second-consecutive recipient of this award. After graduating in the spring, Anna has moved to Florida State University where she will begin her M.S. studies this fall.
