Degree: MA, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages; BA, International Relations-Latin America

Mark holds an MA in TESOL from the Monterey Institute (now Middlebury) in Monterey, California, and a BA in International Relations-Latin America from the College of William and Mary. He taught and managed special programs at the University of Colorado Boulder’s International English Center. He first started teaching English as a Peace Corps Volunteer in El Salvador, and from that experience on he’s been teaching ever since in the U.S. and abroad. In addition to teaching, he has a background in teacher training, including as an English Teacher Trainer at TEFL International in Costa Rica and English Language Fellow in Casablanca, Morocco, where he trained Moroccans going on to teach English in public schools. Mark studied abroad in Valencia, Spain, and has lived and traveled around Central America, including El Salvador and Costa Rica. He speaks Spanish fluently. He is originally from the Washington, DC area, and in his free time he enjoys biking, hiking, soccer, and reading books and newspapers..
