Calling All Writers!

Interested in sharing your creative ideas; writing in a creative and fun setting; and listening to your fellow authors, poets, and playwrights? Join the Honors College Creative Writing Club!

In the HC Creative Writing Club, you can bring your own pieces to workshop and/or just listen to other students’ work. We love to read and listen to poems, hybrid pieces, and short excerpts from scripts and stories. Basically, we read and write anything and everything. All you need to do is be prepared to write and get creative. Don’t forget either your laptop, phone, or notebook and pen!

In the past, the Creative Writing Club has published their own collection of pieces at the end of the 2nd semester composed of works they’ve created during club meetings, workshopped in club meetings, or drafted for a class. My hope is to do it again this year. A few examples are shown below, and here is the link to the full edition: https://uwm.edu/honors/subreal-honors-college-creative-writing-club/

At the end of this semester we will be doing a smaller project showcasing our work similar to the magazine above, such as a poetry slam or a “poetry bomb.” Ideas are welcome!

There will be a short informational meeting THIS Wednesday, Sept. 19th at 6pm in the Honors House Room 155 for anyone interested in seeing what Creative Writing Club is all about. Snacks will be provided.

Meetings are held once a week on Tuesdays, starting Sept. 25th at 6pm in the Honors House Room 155.

Hope to see you Sept. 19th!
