Join the Electa Quinney Institute and the American Indian Student Center for our Manoomin Gabeshiwin (Wild Rice Camp) on September 20th and 21st at the EQI Fire Circle, outside of Merrill Hall. This week we will be the Gaapizige Manoomin process, or the Parching of the Wild Rice. The rice processing will take place over several weeks with the various stages happening chronologically over those weeks. The following week we’ll be “gaa-niimid” dancing the rice and “nooshkaatoon” winnowing the rice following week and completing with a “feast”.
