2017 Indigenous People’s Day

The Native American Studies Association student group, invites you to join us in the Union Concourse to celebrate Milwaukee’s First (official) Indigenous People’s Day.
In 2016, the fourth grade class at the Indian Community School worked to gather community signatures and have the resolution passed. (clck for more information)

Indigenous Peoples Day Schedule

11:30 a.m.: Opening remarks
11:40 a.m.: Brief history of Columbus Day in US – Akikwe Cornell, History
11:55 a.m.: Hawaiian music performance by Malia Chow
12:15 p.m.: Speakers including Dr. Bernard Perley, Anthropology
12:35 p.m.: Powwow Dancers and hand drumming
12:55 p.m.: Ending remarks by Dr. Margaret Noodin, EQI
