Lauren, who also goes by Lallie, graduated from UWM in December 2020 with a Bachelor’s in Global Studies – Communication. There she minored in Applied Linguistics and pursued a certificate in TESOL for teaching university students and adults. Lallie became interested in working within an internationally minded career when she started learning French in high school. Since then, Lallie has practiced French and Korean. She studied abroad in South Korea in 2018. Her experience with English Language Learners started her senior year of high school where she volunteered as a peer mentor in the study center for international students. She participated until the end of her freshman year of college. She has also volunteered at Milwaukee’s Neighborhood House with the International Learning Program to help in the adult English classes. Lallie has experience with UWM’s ELA through the conversation partner program, the ELA sponsored conversation groups, and the TESOL practicum placements. Also, Lallie has worked with ELA while she was a UWM Center for International Education Front Office Assistant where she helped plan and lead events for UWM CIE and ELA visitors. In her free time, Lallie loves watching movies and tv shows from around the world and planning future trips.
