Biological Sciences Colloquium: Breast Tumor Microenvironment: Mammographic Density and Fibroblasts

September 16, 2022 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Dr. Qingsu Cheng, Assistant Professor at the UW – Milwaukee in the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, will present a talk about his work entitled, “Breast Tumor Microenvironment: Mammographic Density and Fibroblasts.” Learn more about Dr. Cheng’s work here.

Breast cancer is one of the leading death causes among women in US. We used biomedical engineering methods to advance understanding of the effect of tumor microenvironment on the onset, progress, and metastasis of breast cancer. We aim to benefit from our research and develop new strategies to combat breast cancer, thus, improve women’s health and healthcare at all levels. In this seminar, we will focus on summarizing the research on the topics of developing mechanically tunable 3D mammographic density tissue models for breast cancer risk assessment and pioneering the usage of secretive proteins in normal breast stroma as a novel method for breast cancer treatment.

The presentation will begin at 4:00 PM in Lapham N101, preceded by an informal Q&A from 3:45-4:00 PM.
