Performance Opportunities

There are more than 20 student performing groups at UWM, including the Brass Choir, Collegium Musicum, Concert Chorale, Jazz Ensemble, Music From Almost Yesterday, Contemporary Music Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, Symphony Band, Symphony Orchestra, University Band, University Choir, Wind Ensemble, UWM Opera, and numerous chamber groups.

Minor - Music

The Minor in Music is designed to provide students with basic knowledge and broad choices in coursework. In addition to enrolling in the required music theory and history core, students will choose from a wide assortment of electives in order to create programs that are uniquely matched to their interests. Note: The Minor in Music does not meet the Wisconsin Department of Instruction requirements for Music Education licensure.

Lessons are not required for the music minor. However, students may take up to four elective credits of lessons. Concurrent enrollment in a large ensemble is required. See the UWM Schedule of Classes for instrument specific course numbers. Lessons available per successful ensemble audition.
MUSPERF 1xx Lessons (repeatable)
Ensembles may be repeated for credit. Students may enroll in the same music ensemble for multiple semesters, up to 8 total (dependent upon audition). Each semester of enrollment fulfills one credit toward the minor.
