May 8, 2017  |  News & Events, Provost's Updates

Good morning, colleagues. Here is this week’s update from Academic Affairs.

Reminder: Final College of Nursing Dean Candidate on campus this week:

Kudos

– Congratulations to those who participated in graduation events this past Friday and Saturday: The African American Graduation Reception and the PALM (Promoting Academics in Latino Milwaukee) Latino Graduation Banquet were held!

– Kudos to the hundreds of students, faculty, and staff who participated in the 9th Annual UWM Undergraduate Research Symposium on April 28. Special congratulations to Arijit Sen (SARUP), who was chosen Undergraduate Research Mentor of the Year, and to those students recognized for their outstanding presentations: Adam Aleiou, Emily Bartsch, Ameralys Correa, Kayla Flentje, Lily Gierke, Rachel Gremminger, Majdulin Istiban, Madeline Kallenbach, Chantee Kelly, Nicole Langenfeld, Sarah Philippi, Matthew Ryther, Sarah Sarich, Samantha Skorlinski, Madison Tebo, Olivia Valenza, Gabriella Van Den Elzen, and Jennifer Wendlick.

– UWM’s History Department has been accepted into the American Historical Association’s 2017 Career Diversity Faculty Institute. The AHA will pay for 3 department members (Chia Vang, Joe Rodriguez, and Amanda Seligman) to travel to workshops in Washington DC and Chicago, IL in 2017-2018. Participation in this Institute will make the department eligible to apply for an award that will subsidize support for one doctoral student as a Career Diversity Graduate Fellow during 2018-2019. Congratulations!
