April 13, 2015  |  News & Events, Provost's Updates

Good Morning, everyone! Here is this week’s update from my office (many things happening on campus):

HLC Accreditation visit next week

– The Higher Learning Commission peer review team will be on campus next week on Monday and Tuesday (April 20 and 21). Meetings requested by the visit team are being arranged. The visit schedule includes open forums for faculty, staff, and students. I will let you know the time and place for each open forum. I encourage you to attend the forums and interact with the visit team members. More information about the process and the accreditation materials that we submitted can be viewed at https://uwm.edu/academicaffairs/current_projects/accreditation/.

Campus Budget Meeting Today – now 2:15 p.m. (instead of the announced 2 p.m.)
– It will take place today in the Wisconsin Room from 2:15 – 3:15 p.m.

Show Your Support
– The Budget Communication Committee is launching a social campaign to increase UWM’s visibility and impact in the metro-Milwaukee area and beyond. See https://uwm.edu/budget/all/show-your-support-with-uwmvital/.

CHS Dean Candidates
– A quick reminder that the College of Health Sciences Dean Candidates will be on campus next week. The candidates’ CV’s are online at http://uwm.edu/secu/news_events/chs-dean/index.cfm and campus visit schedules will be posted by the end of the day today.

Work Group on Undergraduate Advising Open Forum
– A Work Group on Undergraduate Advising has been formed and I will send a separate email message with more details.

Targeted Phishing Campaign
– Bob Beck alerted me to a new, targeted phishing campaign under way. Faculty, students, and staff are receiving messages that appear to have been sent by the UWM Help Desk to inform them that their password will expire in 48 hours. It’s actually a trick used to collect ePantherID and password combinations, which can be used to send additional spoof mail, or to collect sensitive information for future use – possibly up to months or years later! Remember: UWM will never ask for your ePanther password!

Steps to take:
1. Do not reply.
2. Do not click on links.
3. Delete the email upon receipt.
