We invite undergraduate students to apply to join the 2024-25 cohort of the UWM STAR program. This program is funded by a grant from the National Institute on Aging and will support educational and hands-on research activities in the fields of aging and health disparities. The goal of the program is to encourage students from underrepresented backgrounds to pursue research careers in those fields.

Undergraduate students from underrepresented, first-generation, and/or socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds with interests in aging and health disparities are encouraged to apply by May 1. 

Central to the program is a funded multi-year mentored research experience with a UWM faculty member relating to aging or health disparities. This cohort will begin in Fall 2024, which will include an expected time commitment of about 10-12 hours/week during the academic year, with an optional summer research component the following summer (25 hours/week). Students accepted into the program will be supported through graduation, provided they continue to participate in program events.
