JAMS students brought home 11 awards from the 2021 regional Society of Professional Journalists Mark of Excellence contest, including a first-place honor for the department’s news site, Media Milwaukee.

UWM journalists compete against students from across the upper Midwest; winners move on to the national SPJ competition. In the Milwaukee Press Club Excellence in Journalism contest, UWM topped UW-Madison and Marquette with 27 awards in print/online, video and audio categories.
