Professor Emeritus Donn Haglund Passes

We are sad to announce that Donn Haglund, Professor Emeritus of Geography and Lowell Thomas Award recipient, passed away on Wednesday, August 9.

Dr. Haglund taught at UWM for more than 40 years and was known for his expertise in maritime transport to support Arctic economic development. He inspired countless students with his passion for the far North and his dedication to preserving the Arctic Circle.

Professor Haglund was named this summer by the Explorers Club as one of this year’s recipients of the prestigious Lowell Thomas Award.
